Stratis is now known as Xertra, a blockchain ecosystem focused on applications including decentralized finance and gaming. The rebrand was announced in October 2025. Its current website continues to use STRAX for the network's token, so a new brand does not necessarily mean a new ticker.

For someone returning to the project after several years, the earlier blockchain changes matter just as much as the name. The original Stratis era, the later STRAX chain and the 2024 StratisEVM network are separate stages. An old wallet cannot be understood simply by matching the word Stratis to a present-day market listing.

From the original platform to STRAX

The original project emphasized tools familiar to C# and .NET developers. Its subsequent STRAX announcement described a new blockchain and changes to token distribution. This introduced a separate stage in the network's history, with its own wallets and asset records.

Historical wallet names should therefore be treated as part of a timeline, not a current setup guide. Software designed for an earlier chain may have different addresses, synchronization requirements and supported transactions from the present system.

The distinction also affects supply comparisons. A figure from one stage cannot be combined with a price from another without accounting for the intervening token changes. A chart or portfolio tracker that joins histories must explain how it handles those changes.

The 2024 EVM migration

Stratis announced a migration to StratisEVM with a launch scheduled for March 21, 2024, and subsequently published a launch announcement. EVM means Ethereum Virtual Machine, the execution environment used by many smart-contract applications. Compatibility makes familiar development tools usable; it does not mean the network is Ethereum mainnet.

The January 2024 swap schedule specified ten new STRAX units for each eligible old STRAX unit through the documented process. It also gave separate participation windows, with the off-chain window scheduled to end on December 29, 2024. Those dates are historical. They are not an invitation to perform the old burn procedure now.

A unit conversion also changes how a quoted price should be interpreted. Ten units replacing one does not, by itself, multiply the holder's economic value. What matters is the conversion terms and the market value of the resulting holding, not the count in isolation.

Xertra is the current project identity

The Xertra website presents staking, developer tools and an application ecosystem while retaining STRAX terminology and some Stratis-branded infrastructure. Its 2026 announcements describe products including Xertra Deploy and Xertra Play. These are project statements about products, not independent measures of users, revenue or investment returns.

The October 2025 rebrand announcement frames the change around decentralized finance and gaming. That provides useful context for the strategic direction, but the delivery and adoption of individual applications still need to be assessed separately.

A brand transition can leave legitimate older names in documentation and software repositories. It can also create confusion for users. The important connection is a documented link between the current project and its historical infrastructure, rather than a similar logo or a search result using the same ticker.

How the current technical model differs

The StratisEVM repository describes execution and consensus software and a proof-of-stake validator setup. In such a system, validators participate in securing the network according to its rules. Running a validator is an operational responsibility, not merely leaving a token balance in a wallet.

Staking can involve technical requirements, downtime exposure, withdrawal conditions and market risk. A hosted staking product may introduce a further service provider. An advertised rate should therefore be understood within the specific arrangement rather than treated as a property of every STRAX holding.

EVM compatibility also enables familiar contract patterns, including applications and bridges. Each added contract can introduce its own permissions and failure modes. The network's compatibility does not certify the safety of every application deployed on it.

What old holders need to identify

The essential records are the asset's original chain, wallet version and whether the holder completed any migration. A STRAT-era balance, a pre-EVM STRAX balance and current STRAX are not automatically interchangeable simply because they share project ancestry.

No currently open recovery or conversion window for every legacy balance is established here. Historical burn instructions should not be reused without current authoritative confirmation, because burning is irreversible. Exchange-held balances also depend on what that venue supported at the time.

As of October 8, 2026, Xertra is the current identity and its public project resources remain active. The useful distinction is between a rebrand, which changes presentation, and a blockchain migration, which can change the asset and the actions required of its holder.
